This course will explore three main points: 1) function and purpose of tears and tear film; 2) new diagnostic technology and 3) latest advancements in dry eye treatments. The course will focus on new medical treatments available to optometrists as well as the latest procedures such as Radio Frequency Treatment, Intense Pulse Light therapy and the importance of manual gland expression. The lecture will explain how the new therapies affect the underlying causes of dry eye and their efficacy.

MPOA Committee Job Descriptions


Duties include planning committee meetings, assigning duties to committees, decisions on all convention details, ensuring the convention runs smoothly, introducing speakers at the convention.


Duties include helping President, attending all committee meetings, and eventually taking over for the President.


Duties include taking minutes at all committee meetings, distributing minutes to all members of the committee. Must attend all committee meetings.


Duties include keeping track of all committee expenses, balancing MPOA books, and writing cheques for convention related expenses.

Continuing Education Rep(s)

Duties include finding speakers for convention, assisting speakers with details as required, ensuring topics meet criteria set out by committee.



The Tradeshow, Continuing Education and the AGM will be held at the RBC Convention Centre, Winnipeg. Hotel rooms are available at the Delta Hotel, 350 St. Mary Ave, under the group name "Manitoba Association of Optometrists." (See Registration Form or contact MAO for information on room rates and booking deadlines).


Breakfasts and lunches are complimentary for CE attendees. The Joint Luncheon with the Optometrists will be held in York 2-4, Main floor, South Building of the RBC Convention Centre.


The Tradeshow will be held in York Ballroom 1, Main Floor, South Building of the RBC Convention Centre, on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Free with MPOA CE registration or $25 per person without CE. Pre-registration is required to enter the Tradeshow.

Continuing Education, AGM & CPR

Continuing Education and the Annual General Meeting will be held in the Pan Am Room, second floor, North Building of the RBC Convention Centre.

CPR will be held in the Millennium Suite, second floor, North Building of the RBC Convention Centre, and will run concurrently with Sunday morning CE.

President's Banquet

The President's Banquet will be held in York 2-4, Main floor, South Building of the RBC Convention Centre on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am. Tickets $110.
