Visual rehab in the afferent and efferent visual system is a controversial topic. There are many patients who suffer from visual and eye movement abnormalities and can potentially benefit from proper visual rehabilitation. It is the medical professional’s responsibilitiy to provide clinically proven treatments for the patients so on one hand we can help our patients, and on the other hand we can bring back the credibility to this expanding and fascinating area of research and clinical practice.

Featured Speakers

Dr. Tenley N. Bower, ARCT, MD, FRCSC, completed her medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan, and her ophthalmology residency at McGill where she received the Resident Surgical Skills Award. She completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Bower has presented her research at national and international ophthalmology meetings such as COS, AAO, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and has published research papers in peer reviewed ophthalmology journals.

Dr. Ravi Dookeran, MD, FRCSC, runs a surgical and medical retinal practice serving Manitoba, Nunavut and Western Ontario. He completed a fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery at McGill in 2006. Dr. Dookeran is actively involved in clinical research and is an Assistant Professor and head of resident retina education in the University of Manitoba’s Department of Ophthalmology. He is committed to teaching at an academic level and in the public sector. In 2018, he became Vice President of EPSOM.

Dr. David Camoriano, BSc, MD, FRCSC, DABO, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist practicing at the Winnipeg Clinic. He completed degrees in Chemistry and Microbiology from Oregon State University where he graduated Suma Cum Laude. In 2006, he graduated with distinction from Medicine at McGill. In 2010, he completed ophthalmology residency training through the University of Texas Medical Branch with an academic achievement award. Following a fellowship in Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery, Dr. Camoriano completed an additional year of residency at McGill. He currently holds certification in both Canada and the US. Combining his clinical and surgical skills to offer patients the gift of better vision is Dr. Camoriano’s most lofty goal.

Dr. Joshua Manusow MD, FRCSC, Vitreoretinal Surgeon, is a lecturer in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Manitoba. He practices at the MB Clinic and operates at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg. Dr. Manusow obtained his BSc (Hons) from McGill and his MD from the University of Manitoba where he concurrently completed a BSc in Experimental Surgery. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Toronto and his Vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

Dr. Vikram Lekhi, BSc, MBT, MD, MBA, FRCSC. After completing a BSc in organic chemistry and a Masters in Biomedical Technology, Dr. Lekhi worked in the bio-medical technology industry and as teaching staff at the University of Calgary. He then returned to school to complete a Masters in Business Administration from the Haskayne School of Business while concurrently completing his MD, followed by his Ophthalmology residency, through the University of Calgary. He now has offices in both Calgary and High River, Alberta, offering comprehensive ophthalmology including cataract management, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, AMD, lid disorders, DED and tearing.

Dr. Behzad Mansouri, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba with the Departments of Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine (Neurology Section), and an Adjunct Faculty Member with the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program. He completed his MD at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, a PhD in the Dept of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill, a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Ophthalmology at McGill, a Residency (including a term as Chief Resident) with the Section of Neurology at the University of Manitoba, and a Clinical Fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary and Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. He has over 50 peer-reviewed publications, many focusing on amblyopia and strabismus.
